The Sounds of Woodstock

I'll be backing Vox for this awesome show!

The Sounds of Woodstock with KNiKi Saleeba!

KNiKi a Perth born musician, has a voice which at times is a gentle melody, at other times raucous and rambunctious. A dynamic performer commanding your attention as she delivers an energetic show which will explode in your ears

Four sell out albums, major national and international tour appearances at festivals throughout Australia, New Zealand, India, Nepal and Thailand. Her stage presence is larger than life and has an instantly identifiable and vivacious delivery.

The Sounds of Woodstock was born after an extensive music career travelling nationally and internationally with Mike Beale (Men in Blues) a Queensland Performer. They travelled for 10 years from India to New Zealand and Cook town to Tasmania playing shows to small and large audiences.

KNiKi’s musical roots and the success of those shows has seen her add some of that influential and iconic 60’s 70’s soundtrack to her current touring material.

Mama Red & the Dark Blues with guest KNiKi Saleeba Trio

Mama Red & the Dark Blues are back to break the drought. After a short hiatus, the band are back in the saddle and looking to rock the stage with some big, bolshy, power protest music. They’ll take you on a wild ride through their recently released conscious concept album, Long Way to Redemption, and throw in a few faves from the first album and some stellar covers just for fun.

Described as ‘Alt-Folk with a hint of blues’, but messing with genres, gender stereotypes and refusing to be stylistically confined, the band’s eclecticism and originality is part of its charm. In true Dark Blues form, the tunes are heavy with heart-wrenching harmony, moving fearlessly across genres, but woven together seamlessly through lyrical narrative and some dark Australian Gothic storytelling.

Featuring Harry Deluxe, a lead vocalist who can simply blow the speakers, and combining a posse of the State’s most talented musicians with some seriously sexy harmonies, Mama Red & The Dark Blues deserve your undivided attention. And beware… if you don’t give it, you may have it taken by force.

Long Way to Redemption Album Launch with special guests

Nat Ripepi and Kat Kinley

Mama Red & the Dark Blues take listeners on a musical journey to Hades via Lost Love Canyon, Near Miss Alley and Shotgun Street – and bring them out feeling like they’ve ridden a thousand miles on a horse named Sorrow, but lived to tell the tale.

Described as ‘Alt-Country-Pop with a hint of blues’, but messing with genres, gender stereotypes and refusing to be stylistically confined, the band’s eclecticism and originality is part of their charm.

After a (more than) five year wait, the band is releasing their new conscious concept album, Long Way to Redemption, at Lyric’s Underground. The band has evolved, and hard hitting social, environmental, political and personal themes bring both pathos and positivity to this release.

In true Dark Blues form, the new work is heavy with heart-wrenching harmony, moving fearlessly across genres, but woven together seamlessly through lyrical narrative and dark Australian Gothic storytelling.

Join Mama Red & the Dark Blues, and special guests Nat Ripepi and Kat Kinley, at Lyric’s Underground, August 19, 2022, and witness the birth of a new era for Mama Red and the crew.

Mama Red & the Dark Blues - Show Teaser

Mama Red & the Dark Blues - Show Teaser

Words Can Change the World breaks open the music industry, and explores its darker impacts on independent musicians.

21st Century Dingo Productions presents Words Can Change the World, a live reading and interactive early work exploration.

The creative team behind five sell-out seasons of A Saucy Little Secret are back, and working on a new, collaborative multi-arts theatre work, with a powerful arts collective of local theatre-makers, musicians, artists and writers.

This performance is created as a teaser for a full theatre work, a character driven piece about the life of musicians in our time, using the original music of Mama Red & the Dark Blues as its frame.

The co-created production follows the semi-fictionalised experiences of five independent musicians in the 21st century, exploring some of the pervasive pain points in the music industry, from financial stress, sexual harassment, ageism, sexism and political invisibility, to depression and creative frustration, and drawing on the lived experience of the contributing artists and their creative communities.

While it follows some stark emotional ebbs and flows, the show’s ultimate resolution is powerful and uplifting, reminding audiences of the power of the creative arts to not only entertain, but to have lasting impacts on the social fabric of our time.

This unique co-creation approach to theatre-making is an opportunity for early audiences to contribute to the development of the full production, which will be fully realised for an early 2023 launch. The live reading and musical performances are performed by some of Perth’s best emerging and established performers, and invites the audience to provide feedback and ideas to the creative team.

Punctuated by original music from Mama Red & the Dark Blues, with stellar string arrangements by Charles Hoernemann, this unique performance experience comes to The Ellington Jazz Club for one night only, Friday August 12, 2022.
